History
Wire Ropes Ltd.
was set up in 1951. The company was set up by S. Kenneth Davies, the
prominent Welsh Industrialist, with engineer, Kenneth Hann.
Amoung the companies owned by Kenneth Davies was the Cardiff based wire
rope manufacturer -George Elliott & Co. which made the first
transatlantic cable for Brunnels S.S. The Great Eastern, skippered by
Wicklow man - Captain Robert Halpin.
In 1951 Kenneth Davies employed Mick Fagan and Bob Seale as the first Employees in Wire Ropes Ltd.
In 1954, Cliff Morgan, the famous Wales & Lions Rugby cap, was apointed the first manager of the factory.
The company, to this day, remains the only Company, set up in Ireland, to solely manufacture steel Wire Rope.
